  1. There are institutions that allow you to offer the little you can. The best way to go about this is to open a tutoring forum… Where you tutor those below you, academically in terms of assignments and understanding. You can also search online for organizations that have those opportunities. Or you can volunteer with NGOs like children homes, Red Cross, etc.

  2. It depends, if you can deliver on the Job Requirements and you meet the minimum qualifications stated, then by all means, go ahead and apply. But just know, most internship vacancies require 3rd/4th year students, at that stage, they will have had above basic academic knowledge of their course units that they can then apply in their duties as interns.

    Paid or Unpaid is a non-factor, your qualifications and the Job Description is.

    For a first year, it’s my opinion that you go for volunteering, the general experience you gain during your volunteerism will come in handy and compliment the experience you’ll gain during your attachment/internship.
